LRC provides cash distribution for flood-affected community in Kayin State

The flood victims to be resilient community project is based on livelihood support for flood victims in selected communities in Bago, Kayin and Mon State, that is funded by the Myanmar Humanitarian Fund (MHF). The overall objective is ‘Vulnerability of flood-affected communities is reduced’. These objectives cover by three outcomes: Shelter and non-food items, Flood security and Education in emergency. This is a six months project started from September 2018 to March 2019.

Local Resource Center (LRC) and Network Activities Group (NAG) implement in collaboration with HELVETAS Myanmar. The LRC implement it to distribution cash for agriculture inputs for 883 households and cash for rehabilitation household for 151 households in Hpa-an and Hlaing Bwe townships, Kayin State. Also LRC provided cash for 5 Schools renovation and distribute 5 teacher kits and 150 student kits of flood-affected schools.

On 3 to 9 December 2018, LRC distribute cash activity for 11 villages in Hpa-an and 31 villages in Hlaing Bwe township. They have been severely flooded due to heavy rains since July 2018 and agricultural crops were lost and community infrastructure damaged. With together cash distribution ceremony, conducted raising awareness of flood, water and sanitation.
